Esteemed video game developer Hideo Kojima has officially ended his partnership with Konami and started his own studio.

Kojima is well-known for his continued work on the Metal Gear Solid series, ending his twenty-plus years in its universe with Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Shortly before its release, however, Hideo’s relationship with his former employer Konami began to grow stale.

The now-independant Kojima Productions offers a sigh of relief to the wider gaming community, as those who love Kojima’s work want the developer to continue unrestricted in his future creative endeavours.

Soon after the announcement, President and Global CEO of SCE Andrew House, released a heart-felt video revealing the companies’ collaboration with Kojima Productions. The studio’s first game is going to be a PlayStation exclusive.

Whilst the gaming world eagerly awaits what will come next from Kojima and his team, perhaps now is the time for Norman Reedus, Guillermo del Toro and Hideo Kojima to resurrect the spirit of Silent Hills?

All of us here at Start Replay send our congratulations to Mr. Kojima for his work thus far, as well as wishing him and his new team all the best moving forward.
