What a bummer.

Through a post on the official Arkham Knight forums Steve Grayson, from WB Games, has released a statement with regards to an indefinite delay for the upcoming Arkham Asylum and City remaster, Return to Arkham.

“After reviewing the progress of the project, the team at WB Games has decided to delay the release of Batman: Return to Arkham to give the team at Virtuos Games additional time to deliver a polished Batman Arkham game experience.  We do not have a release date yet and will be sure to communicate that once we are sure the game will be ready.   We know this is disappointing news, but we feel the extra time will allow the team to create the best gaming experience for our fans.”

This is hard to swallow considering my eagerness to replay the originals, but Return to Arkham certainly received some backlash for a downgrade in graphics. Even when compared directly to their PS3 counterparts, certain scenes in its launch trailer looked significantly worse in the “graphical upgrade”.

That said, the entire graphics engine has been changed from Unreal 3 to Unreal 4, so it’s not an easy swap. Here’s hoping they take their time to make this remaster shine, as it should.
