After an uncomfortably-long hiatus, Tony Hawk is headed to home consoles once more.

Forget the stupid skateboard peripherals and all the silly gimmicks, apparently the fifth entry is going back to its roots, according to Hawk.

“Skateboarding has always been about the freedom of ripping with your friends, and creating a game that captures that feeling has been a vision of mine since the Pro Skater series began over 15 years ago,” said Tony Hawk.

“I’m beyond excited to see that dream finally come true with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5, which takes the old-school attitude of the original games online in a big way.”

The sequel is also said to focus on “daring objectives, fine-tuned controls and high-score tricks”, which hopefully means we’ll see the series return to its glory days.

Check out a handful of screenshots below, and be on the lookout for more info on the run up to its release later in 2015. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 is due to arrive on PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
