Exciting news from MachineGames and Bethesda.
A stand-alone prequel to the brilliant 2014 alternate history shoot ‘em up, Wolfenstein: The New Order, has been announced, with Wolfenstein: The Old Blood.
Now if you’re like me and you enjoyed the gratuitous violence, the brilliant atmosphere and amazing gameplay of The New Order, then you have plenty to be excited about.
*Minor spoilers ahead*
The stylish 1950’s movie style trailer provides a glimpse at both the gameplay and plot. It would seem that we will once again be beating Nazi brains out as B.J Blazkowicz. The Old Blood story is a 2 parter that takes place in 1946.
Part 1 is named Rudi Jäger and the Den of Wolves and it revolves around B.J breaking into Castle Wolfenstein to steal coordinates to General Deathheads compound.
Part 2 of the story, titled The Dark Secrets of Helga Von Schabbs, sees B.J journeying to the city of Wulfburg “where an obsessed Nazi archaeologist is exhuming mysterious artifacts that threaten to unleash a dark and ancient power.”
We can also look forward to several new weapons and enemies to both challenge and excite us. Included is a new melee weapon pictured on the games posters, it is a nifty multi-use pipe/knife.
So if you’re as excited as I am for The Old Blood then you don’t have long to wait, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood will be available for digital download on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC on May 5th.
