Farmville Spring Basket and Eggs: How it All Works and What You Get

With Easter just around the corner, the folks at Zynga just added a brand new seasonal update, the Farmville Spring Basket, to the hit Facebook application. So what exactly is the Farmville Spring Basket, how can you collect Farmville Spring Eggs, and what exactly are the eggs good for anyway? All excellent questions. Read on for the skinny.

How can I get a Farmville Spring Basket?

Every player is awarded a free Farmville Spring Basket. To get yours, simply log into your game and click to open your gift box in the lower righthand menu. Locate your Spring Basket, and then click the Use button. You can place your Farmville Spring Basket in any unoccupied location on your gameboard. Once you’ve placed your basket, you’re ready to start amassing eggs.

Where can I get Farmville Spring Eggs?

The goal of this cute seasonal game addition is to collect colored Farmville Spring eggs and then redeem them for fun, limited edition items. Players can collect Farmville Spring eggs in a few different ways. First off, players can ask friends to send them eggs. To do so, simply click on your Farmville Spring basket, and select the ‘look inside’ option from the dropdown list that appears. Once the menu opens, click the pink ‘Ask for Eggs’ button in the upper lefthand corner. Click ‘Ask Them’ in the dialog box that pops up, select each friend to ask, and click to send messages.

Second, users can keep an eye on their Facebook feeds for Farmville Spring eggs made available via friends’ actions. Every five eggs amassed by a player will generate a pop-up asking if she would like to share eggs with friends; if the user chooses to share, a note will be posted to her Facebook friends’ feeds inviting them to click for a free egg. The first ten friends to click during the 24 hours following the post will receive a free egg. Additionally, the same ‘share’ opportunity will present itself each time a player amasses more eggs than a given friend in her Farmville Spring basket. Again, the first 10 players to click the link will be awarded an egg.

Third, users can send eggs for the Farmville Spring baskets via the free gifting page. Simply click to send as always, choose your gift, then choose your friends.

There is a similar technique in Domino99 where you have to follow the exact same procedure but for different levels but here once you click on the page, the gift will be sent and the friend list will pop up on the screen.

Unlike previous Farmville special events including the recent Pot of Gold and Valentine’s Day Boxes, users will also be able to find Farmville Spring eggs while fertilizing neighbor crops. As is the case with finding collection items, a dialog box will pop up noting the discovery, and will give the player the option of offering free eggs to friends.

Are we rewarded for sharing Farmville Spring eggs?

Users who respond to their friends’ requests for Farmville Spring eggs are rewarded with free gifts, just as players were rewarded for sharing during the Pot of Gold and Valentines Box special events. Here’s a listing of the giftable eggs along with each corresponding giver’s reward:

  • Give a blue spring egg, get a small tank of fuel.
  • Give an orange spring egg, get a mystery gift.
  • Give a pink spring egg, get 20 xp.
  • Give a purple spring egg, get 1,000 coins.
  • Give a red spring egg, get a red spring egg.
  • Note that players can assist only 10 friends every 24 hours.
  • Farmville Spring Basket: Recruit, Recruit, Recruit

In addition to being a fun seasonal game addition, the Farmville Spring basket and egg event is designed to draw additional new players to the application. The farms of those who have been playing for a week or less will produce three times the Farmville Spring eggs as longer-standing member farms. A long-standing player’s farm will generate one single egg during fertilization, while a new member’s farm will generate three eggs as a result of the same action. At first glance, it may seem unfair, but in reality all players are rewarded with a greater bounty as a result of fertilizing new player farms. Three Spring eggs are better than one regardless of how players acquire them.

What can I get with my Farmville Spring Eggs?

Colored eggs can be traded for any of six available items, provided the player has enough eggs to redeem for a given prize. The first available prize, which can be purchased for 10 Farmville Spring eggs, is a mystery egg. Mystery eggs cannot be purchased from the Farmville market, and could contain a number of unique gifts. According to Farmville Freak, currently confirmed possible items include a small can of fuel, 100 xp, and most interestingly, a double-sized game avatar. As players collect enough eggs to redeem for prizes, the prizes will become visible. Other prizes and redemption values are as follows:

  • 20 Farmville Spring Eggs – Sunny Ewe (like the Love Ewe and Green St. Patrick’s Day Ewe)
  • 30 Farmville Spring Eggs – Bunny Gnome
  • 40 Farmville Spring Eggs – Gilded Egg
  • 75 Farmville Spring Eggs – Flower Fountain
  • 150 Farmville Spring Eggs – Dutch Windmill

Enjoy the coming of the Farmville Spring bunny and collect those eggs.
