  1. Duke Blue Devils (+300)

No shocker here. Coach K and Duke won their fourth championship last season by defeating Butler in the finals. Jon Scheyer (18.2 ppg) and Brian Zoubek (7.7 rpg) will be missed, but Kyle Singler (17.7 ppg) and Nolan Smith (17.4 ppg) will lead the way. Look out for freshman guard Kyrie Irving who will make an instant impact.

  1. Michigan State Spartans (+600)

The Spartans are coming off two straight Final Four appearances and they have a great shot atmaking it three in a row. Coach Tom Izzo will throw out one of the better backcourts in the country as Kalin Lucas (14.8 ppg) and Durrell Summers (11.3 ppg) both return for their senior years. Forwards Delvon Roe and Draymond Green will do the dirty work upfront. 6’10” Adrien Payne is a five-star recruit and should round out the starting five.

  1. North Carolina Tar Heels (+1000)

After winning the championship two years ago, UNC had a very disappointing season last year failing to make the dance. There is plenty of young talent on this squad, including guard Larry Drew II, center Tyler Zellar. Sophomore guard Dexter Strickland had a disappointing rookie campaign but has the talent to make an impact. Freshman forward Harrison Barnes is an absolute stud and should dominate from day one. Despite the young talent, the Tar Heels are ranked too high, obviously, the college basketball betting crowd are backing UNC on name recognition.

  1. Pittsburgh Panthers (+1500)

Coach Jamie Dixon has done a wonderful job in western Pennsylvania as the blue-collar Panthers always seem to be ranked high headed into March. However, they seem to always disappoint once the madness begins. The Panthers their top three scorers: G Ashton Gibbs (15.7 ppg), G Brad Wanamaker (12.3 ppg) and F Gilbert Brown (10.7 ppg). Wide-body Gary McGhee (6.9 ppg, 6.8 RPG) will be in the middle and look for sophomore power forward Dante Taylor (4.1 ppg) to make a bigger impact.

  1. Purdue Boilermakers (+1500)

Purdue’s odds of winning the NCAA National Championship took a blow when star forward Robbie Hummel re-injured his knee in practice. Hummel won’t be back until next season but there is still plenty of talent on the roster. Guard E’Twaun Moore (16.4 ppg) and F JaJuan Johnson (15.5 ppg, 7.1 RPG) are both NBA talents. Purdue rallied and made the Elite 8 without Hummel last season and still have the talent to go even further this year.

  1. Ohio State Buckeyes (+1500)

All-American Evan Turner is off to the NBA, but that isn’t stopping the folks in Columbus from having high-hopes. Guard William Buford (14.4 ppg) will lead the way alongside wings David Lightly (12.6 ppg) and Jon Diebler (13 ppg). Freshman forwards Jared Sullinger and Deshaun Thomas were both McDonald’s All-Americans and will help upfront immediately.

  1. Kansas State Wildcats (+2000)

At +2000, these college basketball betting odds wreak value. The Cats are coming off an impressive 26-7 year and #2 seed in the tournament. Guard Jacob Pullen (19.3 ppg) returns to lead KSU along with forwards Curtis Kelley (11.5 ppg) and Jamar Samuels (11 ppg). Newcomer F Freddy Asprilla adds height (6’10”) bulk (280 lbs) and talent to the front line. KSU will definitely be in the thick of things come March so grab +2000 while you can because those betting odds will shrink.

  1. Kansas Jayhawks (+2000)

Despite losing tons of talent to the NBA, the Jayhawks roster is still littered with big-time players. F Marcus Morris (12.8 ppg), his brother Markieff (6.8 ppg) and G Tyshawn Taylor (7.2 ppg) will lead the charge. Freshman G Josh Selby should start immediately and has the potential to be a double-digit scorer.

  1. Florida Gators (+2000)

After winning back-to-back NCAA championships a few years back, Billy Donovan’s Gators have disappointed. That should all change this year as Florida has as much talent as any roster in the country. Returning are five players who averaged double-digit points: G Kenny Boynto (14 ppg), G Erving Walker (12.6 ppg), F Chandler Parsons (12.4 ppg), F Alex Tyus (11.8 ppg) and C Vernon Macklin (10.6 ppg). Freshman C Patric Young is a blue-chipper and will be the first big off the bench. Hop on 20-1 now, this team has the talent and experience to make a deep tourny run.

  1. Syracuse Orange (+2000)

Coach Boeheim lost his top two scorers from a Syracuse team that was the number one seed in the tournament. That being said, they return enough talent to sit atop the Big East again. Forward Kris Joseph (10.8 ppg) will explode as their go-to guy. F/C Ricky Jackson (9.7 ppg, 7 RPG) will anchor down the middle along with freshman seven-footer Fab Melo. The starting backcourt will consist of Brandon Triche (8.1 ppg) and Scoop Jardine (9.1 ppg).

There you have it, that’s Sportsbook.com’s College Basketball Preseason Top 10. However, if you are looking for a long shot, get on the Villanova Wildcats at 25-1. They have plenty of talent and experience returning as well; their odds will also shrink as the season wears on.
